Need help with your ebook?
The information on this site is all free. Anyone who wants to can find out enough to sort out the whole process all by themselves. So where's the catch? There isn't one. A lot of authors have already decided that it makes more sense for me to handle all of this for them, so they can get on and auth. Some have also said that they regard the ebooks as a tiny part of their income, but great way to get publicity for the printed books they sell themselves. One has even been approached about film rights. Good luck to them, I'm just interested in this format, and publicity works both ways. By explaining everything that is involved, I can help help you make an informed choice. Although is does do a lot of the 'heavy lifting' for you, using Smashwords will still require you to do more than just muck about with a basic word document. You’ll still need to sort out a suitable cover, check the formatting to make sure it entitles you to entry into the 'Premium Catalogue', arrange an ISBN number, and sort out a few other ‘techie’ odds and ends. It's very good, and improving all the time, but not perfect. Things can still go wrong with formatting, and there is learning curve to go through. If you would like your book to be available via Amazon, their requirements are slightly different - you will need to create two different files, one for each format. I can still see the eyes of some of my author friends glaze over when we talk about all this, so I now offer to convert files and set them up on both Smashwords and Amazon for a fixed fee, with all rights remaining with the author. If you would like a free, no obligation quote to find out how much it would cost to convert your book, just use the 'Contact us' option on the left.
